ABCardionostics at the STS Department Scientific Day – 27 November 2025

The Department of Sciences and Technologies for Health (STS – Le Département des Sciences et Technologies pour la Santé) of the Université de Bordeaux held its annual Scientific Day on 27 November 2025 at the Montesquieu campus in Pessac.
This event gathered researchers, PhD students, postdoctoral fellows, engineers, and technicians from across the department to exchange views on the activities of partner laboratories and the five scientific axes structuring the STS community.

As part of the programme, Valentine Michel, PhD, presented a poster highlighting recent progress within Work Package 1 (WP1) of the ABCardionostics project. Her work builds on her team’s expertise in developing pathophysiological macrophage models and contributes to WP1, which aims to define and characterize blood-borne culprit and protective monocyte/macrophage (Mo/MΦ) subsets in human rupture-prone atherosclerotic plaques, and to identify their mouse counterparts using 16-color multispectral imaging and functionomics profiling.

Valentine Michel developed a new in vitro model mimicking the TREM1high atherogenic macrophage subset described by Dib et al. (2022), an inflammatory lipid-associated population linked to cerebrovascular events. The poster, entitled Identification of lipoprotein(a) as a natural inducer of TREM1 in atherogenic macrophages, presented findings led by the CRMSB team (University of Bordeaux), coordinator of the project.

This contribution offered a valuable opportunity to disseminate ABCardionostics’ scientific advances and strengthen interactions within the STS research community.
