On 11 January 2026, the CRMSB team (ABCardionostics coordinator) took part in Le Bureau des Enquêtes, a dynamic public engagement event organised by Cap Sciences in Bordeaux. This initiative creates an open space for dialogue between researchers and the public by inviting scientists to share their work through everyday objects in a playful format.
During the afternoon session, Dr. Florence Ottones and Dr. Marie-Josée Jacobin-Valat introduced the project using three illustrative objects designed to capture the core ideas of our research. These included visual supports and simple models to explain the development of atherosclerosis, playful representations of cholesterol particles and hands-on tools such as magnifying glasses and Petri dishes to explore the difference between “good” and “bad” cholesterol. Rather than delivering a traditional scientific presentation, visitors were invited to guess the topic of the research, turning the exchange into an interactive and engaging experience.
The audience was mainly young, which made the exchange especially meaningful. The discussion was intentionally kept very accessible and light on scientific jargon, focusing on explaining basic concepts in a clear and simple way. This allowed children and teenagers to actively participate, ask questions and better understand what research is and how it connects to everyday life.
We are grateful to everyone who stopped by, asked questions and shared their perspectives. Participating in Le Bureau des Enquêtes reinforced ABCardionostics’s commitment to open science and public engagement.
We warmly thank Cap Sciences for offering the opportunity to take part in such initiatives, which help bridge the gap between research and society and inspire us to continue communicating our work in creative and inclusive ways.
